7 Ways to Be Extra Prepared for Your Appointment

by | Jan 20, 2023 | Consultation, Treatments

Your appointment is scheduled … now what? No worries, Lisa has you prepared.

There are some things that are very helpful to hear from you when you come for your appointment. The more info you can share, the faster we can find the right remedy.

1) There are two types of appointments:

  • Acute
  • Chronic

2) An acute appointment would be for health complaints such as:

  • a cold
  • an ear infection
  • the flu
  • a hurt knee
  • a broken bone
  • a sad event
  • indigestion
  • etc.

3) A chronic appointment would be for health complaints such as:

  • depression
  • arthritis
  • IBS
  • hormonal complaints
  • skin issues
  • heart issues
  • etc … things that have been around for more than 2 months

4) For acute complaints it is helpful to know:

  • Location
  • Sensation
  • Cause
  • Modalities
  • Accompanying symptoms

5) For example, let’s take an acute headache:

  • Location: where does it hurt – right side, left side, top, temples, forehead, base of skull, etc.
  • Sensation: What does it feel like – throbbing, aching, burning, stabbing, boring, band-like, etc.
  • Cause: was it triggered by anything – fever, shock, a blow, heat, cold, wind, grief, anxiety, a particular food, embarrassment, weather or pressure change, etc.
  • Modalities (things that make it better or worse): heat, cold, bending, lying, sitting, moving, eating, drinking, fasting, rubbing, light, noise, stooping, etc.
  • Accompanying symptoms: are there other symptoms that occur with the headache – food cravings, changes in thirst, itchy skin, cramps, burning eyes, chilliness, etc.

It is very helpful to share the full story of chronic health complaints. A timeline of events: when each health event first occurred and the surrounding events (perhaps there were some family conflicts, an accident, etc.) …

6) For chronic health complaints a few other items will be helpful:

  • Doctor diagnosis and pathology tests or investigations if you have one
  • Medications
  • Surgeries and/or hospitalizations
  • Family medical history such as cancer, heart disease, mental disorders, etc.

7) If the appointment is for a child, some information from the mother may be helpful such as:

  • Physical and emotional state of the pregnancy
  • The birth experience
  • Vaccines and possible reactions ( the child)

The first consultation will be longer than subsequent visits as we refine and gain new information with each follow-up.  I will take time in the following days to examine your case and get back to you in 1-3 days with a protocol to move forward with.

To YOU who comes into my life’s path, I look forward to the opportunity to do my utmost and help you to feel better; to help your body restore itself to health with no side effects; to help you get back out in the world and keep moving, living your purpose.
