How Can It Help? Rhus Toxicodendron

by | Jan 9, 2023 | Benefits, How Can It Help?

Rhus Toxicodendron is Poison Oak. It grows in thickets and low grounds.

This is the “rusty gate” remedy.

If you ever have the feeling after you get up from bed or up from a chair and it takes a bit to walk normal, to loosen up; then this would be a great remedy for you.  You might have been gardening all day the day before, and wake up in the morning with an achy body and have to move around for awhile to feel better.

You might be one who has arthritis and can feel it particularly with the cold and damp weather, “feel it in the bones” so to say.  This may be the perfect one to try.

It is a remedy that comes with much restlessness, can’t relax.

It is a remedy for itching, perhaps during chicken pox or shingles. It can be used as a prophylactic before Poison Ivy season; actual contact with the plant is not even necessary for the oils to take effect.

Its great during the flu when your body aches, or if you have much neck tension and then a headache follows.

There is a story of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann treating Typhus as told from the Surgeon-turned-homeopath Dr. Dorthy Shepherd:

“In Leipzig there practiced then one Samuel Hahnemann, the Father of this new school of treatment, based on the Law of Similars. He treated I 83 cases of typhus, in accordance with his principles; he gave Bryonia in the 12th centesimal dilution to some cases, to others who presented slightly different symptoms he gave Rhus tox. 12th centesimal potency in infrequent drop doses. These were cases in the first stage of the disease. To those cases who progressed to the second stage, he prescribed Hyoscyamus in 8th or 9th dilution. And how many do you think survived the heroic measures of this heretic homeopath Hahnemann? I82 survived to tell the tale and only one died, and he was a very old, enfeebled person. You can read all about it in the newspapers of that period; for Hahnemann made no. mystery of it, he explained everything clearly in his article; he went fully into the preparation of each remedy, and the reasons for giving the different medicines, so that other doctors could imitate him and repeat his success. So you see how successful Homeopathy proved itself in such a virulent and fatal disease as typhus, the mortality rate of which is well over 50 percent even now.”

Symptoms can change from Rhus tox to Bryonia, which is probably why in the protocol for Rheumatoid Arthritis, both are employed.

Now get up and move, get the rust out of the gate with Rhus Toxicodendron!

P.S. HERE’S A TIP: For the Influenza aches, this Banerji Protocol can be very useful: Rhus-tox 30c alternating with Bryonia Alba 30c one dose every two hours.
