The Law of Cure … what does that mean? There is a LAW?
“Hering’s observations of the healing process, is known as “Hering’s Law of Cure”.
- Hering observed that the body seeks to externalize disease, noting that symptoms will surface as part of the curative process.
- According to one of Hering’s “laws”, a person’s symptoms will appear and disappear in the reverse order of their appearance upon the body. Thus, a patient might re-experience symptoms during the healing process.
- Another observation was that the body heals from top to bottom, and from more vital organs to less vital organs.
These guiding principles are used in helping homeopaths to understand whether a patient’s health is improving or deteriorating.” (from Whole Health Now)
Let me give you an example of how this MIGHT look:
Lets say you started your life as a little child with some skin issues. Your loving mom, did all she knew to help you and finally sought help at the doctors, who gave you some steroid cream. Miraculously the skin problem “went away”. The next year you got cold after cold and finally it went to your lungs; your loving mom did all she could and finally took you to the doctors where he gave you an antibiotic to “help you get over pneumonia”. Later in your life, you started having joint problems. Your knees hurt, your ankles hurt. Your an adult by now and you went to your doctor who then again gave you steroid injections and you felt great…..for a while and continued in this way of feeling better for quite some time. Finally you started to have some heart issues and again your doctor gave you some medicine to help “manage” these symptoms. Then you heard from a friend about Homeopathy. Now Homeopathy LOVES symptoms we NEVER want to suppress them. We thrive on those to give us clues as to what the body is saying and which remedy will fit best.
So, you went to see a homeopath for the first time and you were working on issues surrounding your heart, but little did you know she also looks at your whole life and and what you have experienced.
You get busy working on healing your heart and its going great! ( vital organ) Later on at some point your joints start to really hurt again, so your homeopath addresses this issue and wow! In a rather short order your joints are not painful anymore. Then … you start having some asthma, or lung pressure, reminding you of when you were a child with pneumonia, so you once again, go to your homeopath who then gives you some remedies to help that pass and WOW you can breath again, maybe better than you realized you could breath. And finally after the lungs are healed, out pops a skin issue (less vital organ). The single event that started the whole health history. You go back to your homeopath and she addresses the skin issue for you. Now a skin issue can take more time and patience, but if you can hold on a bit longer and not SUPPRESS it once again, you will have a complete cure.
So does this make sense? The most vital organ, the heart in this story, was the first to heal and the skin, the less vital, was the last to heal. It reminds me of the verse in the Bible, “the first will be last and the last will be first”.
I hope this helps you to understand the importance of symptoms and to deal with them as they arise and not to push them away, thinking that they are gone forever, because they will only go deeper; AND to see the HOPE that there is after one issue is remedied, the next one closer to the source is worked on and so on. HOPE, which homeopathy can give you.
